Nutritional Therapist Sarah Brereton shares her top tips to say well this winter

Drink - Drinking plenty of fluids will help you to replace any you may have lost through sweating and a runny nose.

Rest - Get plenty of rest. Resting when you first come down with cold or flu helps your body direct all its energy towards battling the virus.

Steam inhalation - Steam may help to ease your congestion by loosening mucus and making it easier to clear by blowing your nose. Try adding menthol or eucalyptus oil to warm water, put a towel over your head and inhale; the steam will help to clear the passageways in your nose.

Gargle – Gargling with salt water can help to relieve the symptoms of a sore throat and congestion. The salt helps to reduce the inflammation and draw out any excess fluid that may be contributing to the symptoms of congestion. Try half a teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water.

Sleep - Sleep with an extra pillow under your head this will help to drain the nasal passages.
